Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift

5 Days, 8 Hours/Day with a call requirement of one weekend per month, approximately 7 days per month.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in the Surgery department, you will provide both routine and complex care, utilizing the nursing process which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. You will address the increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families according to your level of practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and resources.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation.

Required Experience

1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• BLS required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact license.
