3x12s day/night shift variable with every other weekend, holidays, and 2 on-call shifts per 4 weeks required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. This role requires developing specialized skills in caring for adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients admitted for medical conditions, ensuring their comfort, and providing emotional support in a Healing Environment.

Responsibilities

• Apply nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
• Assess patient and family needs through active listening and social perceptiveness.
• Create individualized, culturally relevant plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary based on response or changes in condition.
• Promote and protect patient health, safety, and rights.
• Advocate for mutual trust and cooperation among team members.
• Educate patients and families on care needs to ensure continued recovery at home.
• Document education and patient/family responses.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing practices and engage in self-evaluation for professional development.
• Develop meaningful connections with patients and families focused on their needs and preferences.
• Demonstrate skill in medication administration.

Required Experience

• One (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical/Surgical environment.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current New York State RN Licensure required.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or RQI only) required.
• NIHSS certification required.
