Job Description

The Interventional Radiology Technologist will perform specialized diagnostic and interventional radiographic procedures, including angiograms, biopsies, and other advanced studies. This role requires sound technical skills and independent judgment, along with collaboration with radiologists to ensure quality assurance and efficient patient flow. The technologist will provide diagnostic imaging to a diverse patient population and adhere to infection control protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operate radiographic and digital imaging equipment safely and accurately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
• Demonstrate proficiency in radiographic positioning, image evaluation, and field-of-view selection.
• Apply radiation safety principles and implement protective measures for patients, staff, and self.
• Prepare and administer contrast media according to established protocols; respond appropriately to contrast reactions and medical emergencies.
• Perform scrub technologist duties and assist radiologists during interventional procedures.
• Provide imaging support to anesthesiologists during pain management procedures.
• Maintain a sterile field and follow infection prevention standards throughout procedures.
• Monitor patient condition during procedures and communicate any changes to the care team.
• Document patient data accurately and support departmental quality assurance efforts.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of prior experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist.

Certifications/Licensure

• New York State license as a Radiologic Technologist.
• BLS certification (AHA or RQI only).
• Completion of an AMA approved 2-year Radiologic Technology program or an AAS degree in Radiologic Technology.
