This position requires a Night Shift schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Job Description

The competent Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit practices independently, demonstrating a strong awareness of relevant patient care aspects. This role involves providing routine and complex care to critically ill patients requiring extensive nursing intervention.

The patient population includes those with conditions such as DKA, post-STEMIs, strokes, intubation/ventilation, ARDS, MODS, CHF exacerbation, COPD exacerbation, GI bleeds, renal failure, liver failure, and more.

Responsibilities include administering medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects, documenting patient history and care provided, assessing learning needs, and educating patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Practice using the nursing process for the assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to manage clinical situations effectively.
• Utilize EPIC and Pyxis for documentation and medication management.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding health needs and resources.

Required Experience

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Several years of experience in an intensive care setting is preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• RN license in the state of Texas or compact.
