Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory support and patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed. The position involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures and equipment to patients, and providing necessary education upon discharge.
Responsibilities
- Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory and oxygen devices.
- Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
- Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
- Review chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies.
- Assist with respiratory care procedures, such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatments and patient responses.
Required Experience
- Current respiratory therapist license in Virginia.
- Experience in an LTACH or similar setting preferred.
Certifications/Licensure
- Valid Virginia Respiratory Care License.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
