ARMStaffing is looking for a Registered Nurse, Progressive Surgical Unit (Night Shift) in Richmond, Virginia.

Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule/Shift
Night Shift: 19:00-07:00, 12-hour shifts, 36 guaranteed hours per week. Rotating weekends required, with every other weekend scheduled.
Job Description
The Progressive Surgical Unit (PSU) is a 12-bed unit specializing in post-operative care. Nurses in this unit care for patients recovering from a variety of surgical procedures, including colon resections, Whipple procedures, liver and kidney surgeries, vascular surgeries, and trauma cases. The unit also handles some medical overflow.
Key equipment utilized includes central lines, PCA pumps, epidurals, drains, Foley catheters, wound vacs, and other wound care systems. Documentation is handled through the Meditech EMR system.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, providing timely interventions as necessary.
- Administer medications, including narcotics, as per physician orders.
- Conduct vital signs monitoring and comprehensive patient assessments every four hours.
- Assist with the care and management of post-surgical patients, ensuring optimal recovery.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Required Experience
- Ability to read cardiac monitors and interpret rhythms.
- Experience in post-surgery nursing is highly preferred.
- Prior step-down unit experience is an asset.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
