Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced, high-volume Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, a strong team player, and able to remain calm and effective under pressure while caring for patients with a variety of urgent and emergent medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity.

• Provide emergency nursing care to patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening conditions.

• Initiate IV access and perform phlebotomy.

• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and EKG results.

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.

• Recognize changes in patient conditions and respond promptly to emergencies.

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the Meditech EMR system.

• Support safe patient flow and effective teamwork in a high-volume ED.

• Follow hospital policies, infection control procedures, and patient safety standards.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 40

• Total Staff: Approximately 120

• Patient-to-Nurse Ratio: 4:1, with three rooms and one hallway bed during high-volume periods

• Equipment: Cardiac monitors, EKG machines, ultrasound equipment, Belmont Rapid Infuser, intraosseous (IO) drills, Lifepak, and other emergency care equipment

• Staffing: Clinical Nurse Coordinators (CNCs), team leads, RNs, advanced paramedics, Emergency Department Technicians (EDTs), MHSC staff, and secretaries

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• Previous Emergency Department nursing experience.

• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong teamwork, communication, and clinical assessment skills.

• Ability to manage high-pressure situations and prioritize patient care effectively.

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)

• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification

Dress Code

• RN: Gray scrub top with black or gray scrub bottoms.

• Appropriate colored T-shirts may be worn under a nursing scrub jacket or hospital-approved jacket.

Schedule Details

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

• 13-week travel assignment

• Option for 48 guaranteed hours per week
