Title: Registered Nurse - PCU
Duration: 13 weeks
Location: 50 Leroy St Potsdam, NY 13676
Schedule: Night Shift  3*12s  36hours/week

• Experience: Minimum 1 year; must have PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years.

• First-Time Travelers: Accepted

• Local Radius: Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility.

• Patient Ratios:

  • Days/Weekends: 1:3–5

  • Nights: 1:3–7

  • Ratios adjusted based on patient acuity.

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• RTO: Maximum 7 days

• Floating: Required to sister units – West 2, West 3, and Observation.

• Scrubs: Any solid color

• Charting/System: EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR

• Orientation: 12 hours

• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

• Preferred Certifications: PALS, TCAR

Required Clinical Skills

• MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience

• Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation/management

• Post-MI care and cardiac drip management/titration

• IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration

• Feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, and renal failure management

• Port access, central line/PICC management, phlebotomy, IV starts, and peripheral line care

• Blood product administration and heparin protocols

• PCA and thrombolytic agents

• CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal management

• Ortho trauma, total joint replacements, traction, mastectomy, and peripheral nerve block catheters

• Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)

• CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen delivery, and non-invasive airway management

• ABG interpretation and tracheostomy management

• Isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac management

Patient Population / Unit Details

• Mixed-acuity PCU, MS/Tele, and Med-Surg patients

• Surgical pre- and post-operative patients

• ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, and orthopedic surgery

• Overflow medical diagnosis patients

• Rare pediatric patients; travelers will not be assigned pediatric patients unless experienced.

• Preferred: TCAR experience.
