Description

Job Summary

Polysomnographer position supporting sleep diagnostic services for adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients. The role performs sleep studies, monitors respiratory and cardiac activity, provides patient education, and supports accurate data collection and scoring in a clinical setting.

Job Details

Schedule: Night shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required.
Required Qualifications: At least 1 year of experience; Respiratory Care Practitioner license; Basic Life Support (BLS), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) certification, or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS); experience with charting systems; proficiency with sleep studies, polysomnography scoring, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP), end-tidal carbon dioxide monitoring, electrocardiography (ECG), electroencephalography (EEG), oxygen administration, respiratory event monitoring, sleep staging, and patient education.
Preferred Qualifications: Community hospital experience.
Additional Information:
- Patient care includes a 1:2 ratio for adults and a 1:1 ratio for pediatric patients.
- The unit includes six rooms and specialized sleep-study equipment.
- Responsibilities may include baseline sleep polysomnography, home sleep testing, adult and pediatric multiple sleep latency testing, seizure studies, arousal monitoring, and evaluation of complex sleep apnea.
- Commitment to working three of five designated holidays may be required.
- Forty hours of orientation are provided.
