Job Summary

Pharmacist, Inpatient: Responsible for delivering pharmaceutical care throughout the medication use process, including evaluating medication orders, preparing and dispensing medications, documenting patient care, and providing medication information. The position oversees pharmacy workflow, supports pharmacy technicians and interns, and promotes safe, effective, and compliant medication therapy.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Unrestricted Pharmacist licensure in the state of practice; degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy; Arizona Pharmacist licensees must provide the Arizona Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at hire; travel positions require a current and unrestricted Pharmacist license and at least one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting, including experience in the specialty area within the past 12 months; strong organizational, problem-solving, computer, written communication, and verbal communication skills; ability to use medication reference tools and medication management information systems.
• Preferred Qualifications: Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program, previous clinical pharmacy experience, previous hospital experience, and additional related education or experience.
• Schedule: Day shift, 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week.
• Responsibilities: Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness and completeness; assess medication regimens and recommend improvements to support safety and efficacy; communicate with prescribers regarding medication-related concerns; provide medication information to patients and the healthcare team; document clinical interventions and patient-care activities; prepare and dispense sterile and non-sterile compounded medications; coordinate medication preparation and distribution; oversee pharmacy technology, inventory management, and record keeping; supervise and direct pharmacy technicians, interns, and students; serve as the designated supervisor for shift-related issues and provide work direction to technical staff.
• Additional Information: The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and stretching; lifting up to 75 pounds may be required. Standard precautions must be used due to potential exposure to blood and body fluids. Effective communication through reading, writing, and speaking is required, along with periodic to frequent computer use. Off-site travel may be required.
