Job Summary

Respiratory Therapist, Pediatric Respiratory Therapy. This position provides respiratory care for pediatric and adult patients in an acute-care setting, including intensive care, emergency, medical-surgical, and COVID-19 units. Responsibilities include ventilator management, respiratory treatments, arterial blood gas collection, airway support, and assistance with bedside procedures.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Every other weekend is required, with holidays included in the permanent staff rotation.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials required.
  • License required for submission.
  • At least 2 years of experience required in an acute-care hospital setting, including experience at a Level I or Level II trauma center.
• Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric experience and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications preferred.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Provides care for pediatric and adult patients, including patients requiring high-flow oxygen devices, Airvo therapy, ventilator support, bilevel positive airway pressure, continuous positive airway pressure, nitric oxide therapy, percussion therapy, and respiratory treatments.
  • Performs arterial blood gas collection, including draws from arterial lines, and assists with bronchoscopies and bedside tracheostomy procedures.
  • Manages up to seven ventilated patients in the intensive care unit and approximately 20 patients per day on general patient-care units.
  • Must be flexible and willing to support multiple areas, including intensive care, pediatrics, the emergency department, and medical-surgical units.
  • Orientation is approximately 23 days on the assigned unit.
  • Independent intubation is not required.
