Description
Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist Registered, Pediatric Respiratory Therapy, Madison, Wisconsin. The Respiratory Therapist provides intensive respiratory care, patient education, treatment planning, and medically prescribed patient transport with minimal supervision. The 13-week assignment involves operating and monitoring respiratory equipment, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and documenting patient responses.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights; 12-hour shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Professional respiratory therapy license; cardiopulmonary resuscitation competency according to Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) guidelines.
- Additional Information:
- Evaluates patients and recommends respiratory treatment plans.
- Operates invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
- Performs suctioning, chest physiotherapy, oximetry, capnography, pulmonary function studies, arterial punctures, and tracheostomy care.
- Performs 12-lead electrocardiograms and basic arrhythmia recognition.
- Assists with bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, and other respiratory care procedures.
- Maintains and monitors mechanical ventilation equipment and assists with equipment maintenance and repair.
- Documents treatments, patient responses, assessments, test results, and shift-to-shift clinical communication.
- Communicates with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding the effectiveness of respiratory therapy.
