Registered Nurse - Medical / Surgical

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a high-acuity Medical/Surgical unit specializing in trauma and surgery. The ideal candidate should be prepared to work flexible shifts without the option for block scheduling.

Patient Population

The patient population includes individuals with various complex medical conditions, such as:

• Surgical patients
• Trauma patients, including gunshot victims
• Individuals with quadriplegia and paraplegia

Team and Support

The unit is supported by Nursing Support Technicians, phlebotomists, and a unit secretary during night shifts. A collaborative handoff process between the Emergency Department nurse and the admitting unit ensures effective patient care transitions.

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a range of medical and surgical needs
• Administer medications and perform treatments as directed by physician orders

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical/Surgical or Trauma unit
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is required
