Location: Denver, CO
Unit: Ortho/Medical 6A
Number of Beds: 18-bed unit
Staff Composition:
- Day Shift: 2 Charge Nurses, 2-5 RNs, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
- Night Shift: 2 Charge Nurses, 2-5 RNs, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
Patient Ratios: RNs ratio is 4:1 for spine patients and 5:1 for orthopedic patients.
Type of Equipment: Telemetry, Epidurals, Patient-Controlled Analgesics (PCAs), Ice Machines, Sara Steady.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
Job Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse on this unit, you will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment, focusing on both orthopedic and medical needs. Responsibilities include:
- Performing comprehensive assessments and developing nursing care plans.
- Managing and administering medications and intravenous therapies.
- Assisting with medical procedures, including central line care and blood transfusions.
- Providing education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment and recovery processes.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- At least one year of current hospital acute care experience in orthopedics.
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience in orthopedic and spine care.
- Background in medical/surgical nursing.
