Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Location: Salem, VA

Unit Type: CVOR

Number of Beds: 2 OR suites

Staff Composition: 6 staff members (3 RNs, 3 CSTs)

Patient Ratios: 1:1

General Information

Equipment: Various surgical instruments and technology used in CVOR.

Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and management of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Provide support to the surgical team during procedures.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the surgical environment.
• Collaborate with nurses and surgeons to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Must Have:

• Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Experience in CVOR.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in surgical scrubbing.

Typical Procedures

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
• Thoracotomy
• Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (Endo AAA)
• Valve Replacement
• Pacemaker Insertion

Work Schedule

Shifts: Day shift, with mandatory weekday, weekend, and holiday call required.

Dress Code

Attire: Light blue scrubs, which will be provided.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
