Cath Lab Technologist

Unit Information

Location: Weatherford, TX

This unit comprises 6 holding bays and 2 cath lab procedure rooms, known for quick patient turnover.

General Information

The Cath Lab staff consists of a total of 13 professionals, including:

• 2 Full-Time Cardiovascular Technologists (CVT)
• 7 Full-Time Registered Nurses (RNs)
• 1 Part-Time RN
• 1 PRN CVT
• 2 PRN RNs

On day shifts, the unit experiences a high volume of cases, especially on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, while Thursdays and Fridays typically see fewer patients.

Staff members work 12-hour shifts or longer, depending on patient needs.

Patient Care

The patient-to-staff ratio is organized into 4-member teams, with RNs rotating through pre-op and recovery areas.

Equipment and Technology

The Cath Lab is equipped with:

• GE equipment in Cath Lab 1
• Philips equipment in Cath Lab 2

Electronic medical records are managed via Meditech/Merge.

Responsibilities

Candidates will be involved in various procedures, including:

• Right and Left heart catheterizations
• Peripheral and carotid angiograms and stenting
• PE and DVT cases
• Implantation of Impella and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
• Transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and cardioversion
• Pacemaker insertions
• IVC filter placement
• ECMO cannulations
