Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced Intensive Care Unit setting. This position involves working night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. The successful candidate will exhibit excellent clinical skills and a collaborative spirit to ensure optimal patient care.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
• Number of Beds: 4
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 depending on acuity
• Common Diagnoses: DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac conditions, medical detox, and trauma care
• Titration of Drips: Required for typical ICU medications
• Charge Nurse: Not present; Emergency Room oversees the ICU

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the ICU, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
• Titrate IV drips as needed in accordance with care protocols.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Participate in training and orientation sessions as required.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in an ICU setting preferred.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS. Additional certifications in trauma care (TNCC/TCAR) or similar are also desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations, demonstrating strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Working Environment

This role may require floating to other departments, including Med-Surg or Emergency Room settings for 1:1 patient care. Registered Nurses will wear Navy scrubs.

Orientation & Training

• Length of Orientation: 3 shifts (12 hours each)
• Attributes for Success: Coachability, motivation, ability to assess and manage unsafe situations, and a team-oriented approach.

Additional Information

Please note that fit testing is required for clinicians with facial hair, as certain types of masks cannot be used if unable to pass the fit test.

Work will be scheduled by management, with expectations to cover shifts as necessary based on departmental needs.
