General Information

The Emergency Department is dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients in urgent need, ensuring their safety and well-being. The department operates with an effective team, consisting of various roles including a Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC), Patient Care Technicians (PCT), Unit Clerks, and Registered Nurses (RNs) for both day and night shifts.

Staffing

• Day Shift: 1 CNC, 1 PCT, 1 Unit Clerk, 5 RNs
• Night Shift: 1 CNC, 1 PCT, 1 Unit Clerk, 5 RNs

Patient Ratios: 4:1

Required Qualifications

• Must Have:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Preferred or Nice to Have:
  • 1 year of Emergency Room experience

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately assess patient acuity and assign appropriate triage levels.
• Identify and prioritize patient needs, accomplishing them in an organized and timely manner.
• Collaborate with physicians to provide appropriate plans of care.
• Exhibit high levels of customer service skills and anticipate patient needs.
• Provide equal emphasis on quality and compassion in patient care.
• Actively participate in problem-solving to improve process issues and patient flow.
• Oversee all aspects of patient care, coordinating diagnostic tests and treatments for timely care delivery.
• Ensure maximum patient safety at all times.
• Adapt to changes in patient volume while maintaining flexibility in work duties.
• Maintain and improve positive, professional relationships with other nursing units and ancillary departments.

Required Certifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

• Demonstrate specific competencies as listed in the competency validation checklist.
• Exhibit knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, treatment, and care of patients across the lifespan.
• Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Utilize nursing processes for individual care to meet patient needs.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
• Promote customer service initiatives and teamwork.
• Complete mandatory education and comply with hospital policies and patient safety initiatives.
