Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the PCU/Med Surg/Oncology unit. The RN will provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment and will be responsible for the management and coordination of patient care for adult oncology and trauma patients.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: PCU Oncology
• Primary Patient Population: Adult Oncology PCU and Trauma PCU patients
• Number of Beds: 18

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Type: Nights
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Self-Scheduling: Self-scheduling available, balanced to meet unit needs

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but strong PCU experience is acceptable
• First-time travelers are welcome

Certifications

• BLS – Required
• ACLS – Required
• ONS/ONCC Certification – Current preferred, not required

Patient Ratios

• Days: 1:4-1:5
• Nights: 1:4-1:5

Floating Requirements

Travelers may be required to float to other Med/Surg and PCU units, with assignments remaining at the same level of care.

Orientation

Two days of unit orientation will be provided to ensure a smooth transition into the unit.

Skills and Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the administration of various medications and the management of common drips, including:

• Chemotherapy
• Heparin
• Cardizem
• Protonix

RNs will occasionally titrate insulin and Cardizem drips as part of their responsibilities. Additionally, common respiratory equipment encountered may include high-flow oxygen setups.

• Dietitian
