Position Overview

The Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in a telemetry unit. This role involves monitoring patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythms, performing assessments, and collaborating with healthcare team members to deliver effective treatment plans.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor patients using remote telemetry equipment, ensuring timely detection of any significant changes in medical conditions.
• Perform chest tube insertions and conduct bedside procedures such as paracentesis and thoracentesis.
• Maintain accurate documentation utilizing the Meditech system.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
• Deliver patient education to enhance understanding of their health conditions and care plans.
• Adhere to patient experience requirements, striving for a satisfaction rate of 75% or higher.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 during cath recovery; maximum 6:1; potential to stretch to 7:1 during peak times.
• Available Staffing: Patient Care Technicians (PCTS) and Unit Clerks during designated shifts.
• Floating Policy: Agency floats are prioritized, with potential to float to Orthopedic/Medical-Surgical units.
• Scheduling: Requires availability for every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of telemetry nursing experience.
• Advanced skills in managing chest tubes and knowledge of dysrhythmias.
• Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale.

Dress Code

Uniform: Any scrubs are acceptable except camo.
