Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac ICU team. This position involves providing exceptional care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details
- Unit: Cardiac ICU
- Unit Type: Cardiovascular Intensive Care
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years
- Common Diagnoses: Fresh open hearts and mixed ICU patients
- Bed Capacity: 30 beds
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:1 to 1:2
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; holiday requirement may be requested
- Scrub Color: Navy
Shift Information
- Shifts: 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- Schedule: Self-scheduling with six weeks advance notice, subject to managerial approval
- Floating: May float to telemetry or medical-surgical units
Orientation and Training
- Unit Orientation: 1-day orientation specific to the unit
- Testing: Candidates will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on the first day, which is pass/fail
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
Facility Support Services
- EMR System: Cerner
- Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7
- Pharmacy: Available 24/7
- Hospitalist Coverage: Hospitalist available 24/7
- IV Team: Not available
- Nurse Aides: Not provided
Additional Notes
Candidates must have recent experience with fresh open hearts and mixed ICU patient care. Strong critical thinking and emotional resilience in high-stress situations are essential for this role.
