6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, 3 shifts of 12 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday. No call time required.

Position Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory care in various settings within the Health Center. Responsibilities include delivering aerosol therapy, airway clearance, blood gas analysis, endotracheal intubation, and ventilator management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science with a major in respiratory care.
• Experience: Clinical experience during respiratory care training.
• Licensure:
  • Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License issued by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board.
• Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform patient assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of care.
• Provide basic respiratory care, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, airway clearance, incentive spirometry, BiPAP, and blood gas analysis.
• Deliver critical and complex respiratory care, such as endotracheal intubation and ventilator management, utilizing critical thinking skills to resolve clinical issues and enhance patient care.
• Assess the learning needs of patients and their families, providing relevant education.
• Respond to emergency situations, including Code Blues, Code Pinks, Rapid Response Teams, and Trauma Teams.
• Document care provided in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team using SBAR handoffs and reporting critical test results.
• Actively participate in process improvement activities.
• Perform non-patient care duties related to respiratory care, including equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of blood gas analyzers.
