Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the Labor and Delivery unit, providing quality care to patients during labor and postpartum stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for laboring patients, including inductions and cesarean sections.
• Assist with antepartum patients facing various complications.
• Perform triage assessments for patients at 20 weeks gestation or greater.
• Titrate and administer medications as per established protocols, including Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium.
• Collaborate with an OB/neonatologist and work with an OB tech on duty.
• Utilize fetal monitoring equipment and interpret strip readings as needed.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of current Labor and Delivery experience.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, NIHSS, and NRP.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as per unit requirements.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• Number of L&D Beds: 14
• Number of Operating Room Suites: 2 on the postpartum side
• Average number of births per day: 3-4, with approximately 1,100 births per year.
• Ratios follow AWHONN guidelines.

Schedule & Shifts

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 1 every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 1 major and 2 minor holidays
• On-call requirement: Yes, 1 on-call shift every 2 weeks

Additional Information

• Unit provides a 1-day specific orientation for new hires.
• Dress code includes light blue scrubs, supplied by the unit.
• Patient care involves both routine and critical cases in the Labor and Delivery setting.
