Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Outpatient Surgery Unit. This role involves working variable shifts, with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week. The start times for shifts may vary, beginning at 0500, 0700, or 0800, from Monday to Friday. Schedules are organized on a six-week cycle, allowing for advanced planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care in the pre-operative setting.
• Collaborate with surgical teams and support staff to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Assess patient needs and develop appropriate care plans.
• Administer medications and monitor vital signs preoperatively.
• Educate patients and their families regarding procedures, postoperative care, and recovery expectations.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Associate Degree (A.S.) in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in pre-operative or perioperative nursing (not in an operating room environment) is required.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in medical surgical nursing within the last 2 years is preferred.
  • Experience in pre and post-operative diagnostic catheterization laboratory preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current RN license in the state of practice is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from an approved vendor.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required from an approved vendor.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required from an approved vendor.
• Additional Skills:
  • Epic electronic health record experience is necessary.
  • Completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia class with a passing score is required.
