NICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced NICU Registered Nurse to join our high-acuity Neonatal Intensive Care Unit team. This position offers an opportunity to care for critically ill newborns in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
• Level: Level III
• Number of Beds: 20
• Common Diagnoses: Mostly congenital abnormalities, feeders/growers, and ventilated patients (No ECMO)
• Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner

Work Schedule

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Times: 0645-1915 and 1845-0715
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Work included in permanent staff rotation

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and IV drips, including titration.
• Manage patients on ventilation; respiratory therapy is typically managed by respiratory therapists available 24/7.
• Read and interpret cardiac strips.
• Support a collaborative environment working alongside a neonatologist available in-house 24/7.

Qualifications

• Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Level III NICU or higher.
• Certifications:
  • BLS Certification
  • NIHSS Certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Additional Information

• Orientation: 3 shifts of floor-specific orientation provided.
• Charge Nurse: Yes, does not typically take patients.
• No Nurse Aides available on the unit.
• IV Team and Pharmacy: Available 24/7 on the unit.
