ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate ICU Registered Nurse to join our team in providing critical care to patients in an intensive care environment. This role requires a commitment to patient satisfaction and collaborative teamwork.

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Notes: Days, every other weekend, first to float

Unit Information

• Unit: ICU
• Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit
• Number of Beds: Licensed for 44 beds; currently using 36 beds
• Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1
• Electronic Medical Records: Cerner Power Chart
• Charge Nurse: Yes, they do not take patient assignments
• Nurse Aides: No nurse aides; unit tech available for support

Responsibilities

The ICU Registered Nurse will deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients, monitor vital signs, and oversee treatment protocols, including:

• Administering medications and IV drips (e.g., Vasopressors, Nitro, Heparin)
• Providing care for patients on ventilators
• Working collaboratively with a 24/7 in-house hospitalist and intensivist
• Float to Telemetry and Emergency Room for ICU holds as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required; CCRN preferred
• Strong background in managing acute care patients
• Ability to work rotating shifts and holidays as part of the permanent staff rotation

Orientation and Training

• 1 day of unit orientation specific to ICU
• Additional shift on the Telemetry/Stepdown unit for familiarization

Common Patient Diagnoses

The ICU Registered Nurse will care for a variety of patients, including those with:

• Cardiac issues (PACU patients transition directly to ICU)
• Open heart surgery, PCI, CABG, stent placements, and general medical-surgical conditions
• Sepsis, ETOH-related issues, and strokes
• Patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions (e.g., balloon pumps, craniotomies)
