Position Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the MedSurg/Tele Float Pool, focusing on telemetry patients. The role involves providing high-quality patient care, monitoring vital signs, and interpreting cardiac strips.

Key Responsibilities

• Float to various units within the MedSurg/Tele Float Pool as needed.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips effectively.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Work with patients diagnosed with conditions such as ESRD, diabetes mellitus, COPD, and alcohol use disorders.
• Participate in clinical prescreening with the clinical team before presenting to the unit manager.

Position Requirements

• Two years of nursing experience.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS.
• Preferred: Basic arrhythmia course certification.
• Ability to handle a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:8 to 1:36, depending on staffing levels.
• Capable of working with Bipap and CPAP ventilators.

Shift Details

This is a day shift position, consisting of 12-hour shifts. The schedule requires working every other weekend and rotating holiday shifts as part of the permanent staff rotation.

Orientation

Orientation will be provided in December, consisting of an hour focused on unit-specific protocols. A day of tele orientation will be included to acclimate to the highest level of care the nurse will provide.

Working Environment

• Charge Nurse: Available but does not typically take patients.
• Nurse Aides: Present unless redirected for sitters.
• Electronic Medical Record: Cerner PowerChart.
• Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7.
• Pharmacy: Open 24/7.
