Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role will support labor and delivery services, including performing vaginal exams and circulating in C-section procedures. The ideal candidate will possess critical thinking skills, extensive experience in fetal monitoring, and the ability to provide exemplary care to laboring patients.

Unit Information

• Location: Thousand Oaks, CA
• Unit Type: Labor and Delivery
• Number of Beds: 9 Labor and Delivery Rooms and 4 additional beds for triage and outpatient testing
• Staffing: 43 healthcare professionals, including a Clinical Nurse Coordinator or Charge RN, Registered Nurses, an Ob Technician, and a Unit Assistant
• Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3
• Type of Equipment: Hospital beds, GE Novii and wired fetal monitors, OR equipment
• EMR System: CPN/Meditech

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following qualifications to be considered for this role:

• Must possess excellent critical thinking skills
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fetal monitoring
• Experience as a C-Section circulator and in post C-Section recovery
• Ability to perform vaginal exams
• Experience in caring for laboring patients, including both C-section and vaginal deliveries
• Experience in managing high-risk antepartum patients, including those with gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes
• Knowledge in handling obstetrical emergencies, such as obstetric hemorrhage
• Ability to provide care for newborns, including initial breastfeeding support and latch
• Strong customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Scrub experience
• NCC certification in Inpatient Obstetrics (Ip-Ob) or Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

Responsibilities

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Managing labor and delivery processes, including performing vaginal exams
• Conducting outpatient testing such as NST, CST, and BPP
• Providing care in the OB triage and emergency department settings
• Performing procedures such as versions and cervical cerclage
• Administering OP injections as needed
