About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in orthopedic surgery, particularly in total joint replacements and robotics, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Facility Overview

Located in Tacoma, WA, this facility is a Level IV Trauma Center with a total of 65 beds and eight operating rooms. With an average patient census of 25-40 per day, the center is accredited for advanced total hip and knee replacement certifications and is recognized as a Bariatric Center of Excellence.

Patient Types and Common Diagnoses

• Heavy concentration in orthopedic surgery
• Robotic surgeries utilizing DaVinci XI
• Involvement in bariatric procedures, general surgeries, urology, ophthalmology, podiatry, and GYN cases
• Daily orthopedic cases including total joints, with several rooms dedicated to these procedures

Qualifications

• Experienced RNs with at least 1 year of strong orthopedic nursing experience; 2 years required for other specialties
• Must possess BLS certification
• Preferred experience with DaVinci robotics
• Ability to circulate and scrub for various surgical procedures

Work Environment

This role is characterized by a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere. The department provides various support roles such as charge nurses, anesthesia assistants, and resource nurses. The culture promotes teamwork, and travelers are welcomed, often extending their contracts.

Technological Proficiency

• Experience with EPIC EMR system
• Familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Knowledge of specialized surgical equipment including Hana Table and robotic systems

Scheduling and Orientation

• No weekend or holiday shifts required
• Orientation includes three days with a preceptor
• Flexible shift options available, including 8-hour, 10-hour, or 12-hour shifts
• Approved requests for time off up to seven days

Support and Resources

• Comprehensive support from the nursing and surgical team
• Access to a nurse educator for professional development
