Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic MedSurg unit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Unit Information
- Unit: MedSurg 2W
- Unit Type: Medical Surgical
- Patient Beds: 55 beds
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 5:1
- Electronic Medical Records: Cerner
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Participation in holiday rotation
- Scrub Color: Navy
Shifts
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Shift Times: 7 PM - 7 AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive care of surgical and medical patients, including:
- Monitoring and assessing patient conditions
- Administering medications and treatments
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams for patient care
- Documenting care and patient progress in EMR accurately
- Providing patient and family education
Qualifications
- Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in MedSurg
- Required Certifications: BLS Certification
- EKG Monitoring: Ability to read EKG strips and work with telemetry patients
- PICC and IV Team: Available during day shifts
- Availability for Orientation: 1 shift of orientation on each unit (total of 2 shifts)
Additional Information
- Charge Nurse on the unit does not take patients
- Nurse Aides (PCT) available: 1-3 depending on census
- Hospitalist or Intensivist present in-house
- Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
- Traveling staff will have a 'home base' unit but will be required to float between MedSurg units

Traveler friendly for sure. I was on the TCU and they have a strong sense of teamwork. Break nurses every shift who are super helpful.
Cons
What management can’t provide, I would say the floor staff makes up for. Cost of living is higher only for lodging, I’m from Alaska and everything else was about the same. If you have a place to stay it’s a perfect gig!!
