Description
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical Nurse to join our MedSurg 2W unit. This role requires a strong, humble, and positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment.
Shift Details
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift Timing: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Participation in holiday rotation
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Medical Surgical
- Number of Beds: 55
- Patient Ratios: 5:1
- EMR System: Cerner
- Nurse Aide Support: PCT 1-3 depending on census
- Floating Requirement: Must float between MedSurg units
- Orientation: 1 shift of orientation on each unit (total of 2 shifts)
Responsibilities
The Medical Surgical Nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assessing patient needs and planning care accordingly
- Administering medication and monitoring patient responses
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Documenting patient care and progress in the EMR system
- Educating patients and families on health management and treatment plans
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-4 years of nursing experience in a Medical Surgical setting
- BLS Certification required
- Experience with Cerner EMR is a must
- Ability to read EKG strips and care for telemetry patients
- No experience with ventilators required

Traveler friendly for sure. I was on the TCU and they have a strong sense of teamwork. Break nurses every shift who are super helpful.
Cons
What management can’t provide, I would say the floor staff makes up for. Cost of living is higher only for lodging, I’m from Alaska and everything else was about the same. If you have a place to stay it’s a perfect gig!!
