Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for our Medical/Surgical unit specializing in Stroke Stepdown care. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing a range of medical issues.

Unit Specifics

• Common Diagnoses: Stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, dialysis, COPD, CHF, isolation cases, general medical-surgical conditions, pneumonia, and pulmonary issues.
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Number of Beds: 64
• Specialty Equipment: IV pumps, N/G tubes, feeding tubes

Shift Information

Shift will be from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Please note that block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the following:

• Providing comprehensive patient assessments and care for patients in the Medical/Surgical unit.
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitoring patient progress and reporting any changes to the healthcare team.
• Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participating in patient education and support.
• Floating to other units as needed.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience.
• Must hold a current and active RN license in New York and all active RN licenses.
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications required; NIHSS certification can be obtained prior to the start date.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, specifically EPIC.
