Overview

This is a floating clinical position serving patients at various levels, primarily in the emergency department overflow area. The role requires flexibility to work with patient care units (PCUs) of varying acuity levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients experiencing respiratory distress, end-stage renal disease (ESRD), acute kidney injury (AKI), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), gastrointestinal (GI) bleeds, sepsis, general post-operative recovery, strokes (CVA), alcohol withdrawal (ETOH), overdoses, congestive heart failure (CHF), and post-catheterization or interventional radiology (IR) procedures.
• Manage patients being treated for Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWA).
• Deliver high standards of clinical care to patients in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a relevant healthcare setting.
• Certifications required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.

Skills Required

• Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Experience in managing tracheostomy and bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) as long as patients are stable.
• Ability to manage invasive lines and general drains, including chest tubes, lumbar drains, and ostomies.
• Knowledge of intravenous (IV) medication titration.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), specifically EPIC.
• Ability to treat patients undergoing the Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWA) process.

Unit Information

The PCU consists of 33 beds, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4.

Work Environment

Scrubs of any color are acceptable, with navy blue being preferred. Please note that camo patterns are not permitted.

Schedule

This position primarily involves 12-hour day shifts.
