Position Overview

This position is a floating role within the Auburn, AL (or possibly Covington, GA) area, primarily focused on patients within the PCU level or below. The majority of time will be spent in the Emergency Department (ED) overflow.

Minimum Experience

• 2 years of nursing experience required

Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Skills Required

• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Management of tracheostomies and BiPAP (continuous as long as stable)
• Invasive line management
• Ostomy care and management
• General drain management
• Chest tube management
• Management of lumbar drains
• IV medication titration
• Care for CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment) patients
• Experience with EPIC EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system

Patient Types

• Respiratory distress
• End-stage renal disease (ESRD)
• Acute kidney injury (AKI)
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeds
• Sepsis
• General post-operative patients
• Stroke victims (CVA)
• Alcohol withdrawal (ETOH)
• Overdose cases
• Congestive heart failure (CHF)
• Post-catheterization or interventional radiology (IR) procedures
• CIWA patients

Unit Information

• PCU consists of 33 beds
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:4

Charting System

EPIC (experience required)

Uniforms

Scrubs: Any color except camouflage, with a preference for navy blue.

Schedule

12-hour Night shifts available.
