Position Overview

This role is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical unit, providing care to a variety of patients with diverse health conditions. The position involves working night shifts and requires a commitment to patient care and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Monitor and manage patient conditions, ensuring the delivery of the highest standards of care.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care plans and treatment options.
• May be required to float to other acuity levels, including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele, as necessary.
• Participate in unit-based activities and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
• Current certifications: ACLS and BLS (both from AHA).
• Strong patient communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with a variety of medical conditions, including CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and surgical patients.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical Surgical with 32 beds.
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6.
• Support Staff: Telemetry technicians available 24/7, with nursing assistants present to assist.
• Equipment: Familiarity with CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow oxygen is preferred.

Shift and Scheduling

• 12-hour night shifts with guaranteed hours of 36 hours per week.
• Weekend requirement: Minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule.
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling options available.

Additional Notes

• Orientation will include both in-person and remote modules; candidates must be available for the week of orientation.
• May be asked to fulfill CNA duties if necessary during staffing shortages.
