Job Overview

The CVOR Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in the cardiovascular operating room, providing high-quality patient care during surgical procedures. This position requires collaboration with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and execution of cardiovascular surgeries, including CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracotomy procedures.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions before, during, and after surgical interventions.
• Maintain comprehensive patient records using the Cerner and Surginet electronic medical record systems.
• Participate in a rotating call schedule, ensuring availability for emergency cases as necessary.
• Float to the main operating room and other specialties as required.
• Support the Charge RN with daily assignments and shifts.

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Days: Day shifts required
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• On-call Requirement: Call required, with a response time of 30 minutes
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and rotating holiday shifts

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in a cardiovascular operating room setting.
• Current certifications: ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) required.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with surgical teams and patients.
• Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

• Unit Type: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Number of Surgery Suites: 1
• Average Number of Cases: 2 per week
• Staffing Ratios: 2 Circulators per case
• Orientation: Floor-specific orientation provided for a week or until comfortable
• Scrubbing: Not required but beneficial
