PCU RN Travel/Contract Job

Overview

  • Registered Nurse role in Overland Park, Kansas
  • Travel/contract assignment
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • 36 hours per week
  • 13-week contract
  • Patient ratio: 1:5

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Schedule and Assignment Details

  • Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule period
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed
  • Floating required within scope; this is a float pool position with no home unit
  • May float among Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU units and to other metro campuses as needed
  • On-call not required
  • Block scheduling not available
  • RTO limit: no more than 7 days

Clinical Setting and Skills

  • PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry / Telemetry / Cardiac Telemetry / Neuro Stepdown experience
  • Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
  • Pre/post cardiac cath experience
  • Experience with sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID
  • Special requirements include 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, Omnicell, and virtual nurse workflows

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Sheath removal experience preferred
  • Feeding tube care and management preferred
  • Port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management preferred

  • Government-issued ID required
  • Two professional references required
  • Employment application required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for new contracts
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start
  • Fit testing required
  • Drug screening required within 1 year of start and must remain valid through the assignment
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
