RRT Pediatrics

Location: Mountainside, New Jersey Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Patient Mix: Infant, Pediatric, and Adolescent Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: Night shifts, 3 x 12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 36 hours/week Weekends: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday) Start Date: Orientation dates are 11/9 and 11/30. Required Qualifications

• Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in New Jersey
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist with 1.5 years of experience
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• NBRC certification (CRT or RRT; the facility must verify whether NBRC CRT is accepted)

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Background: Criminal background check within 30 days of start, with all aliases run. Open cases will not be approved, and candidates cannot start with open cases. Attestations are not acceptable.
• Exclusion checks: EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG searches within 30 days of start, plus the NJ Department of Treasury Exclusions List, all updated for extensions.
• Identity and work eligibility: Government-issued photo ID and E-Verify. The driver's license must be provided within 48 hours of signing.
• Drug screen: Negative 10-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start. Must include amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, MDMA, methamphetamine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, and PCP. Include marijuana for jobs requiring a firearm or a DOT/CDL. Blood tests and instant tests are not accepted.
• TB screening: Either a single blood TB test within 3 months of start, or a 2-step skin test (1st step within 12 months, 2nd step within 3 months). Positive TB history requires additional respiratory assessment.
• Physical: Physical exam within the past 12 months, stating the candidate is cleared for the essential functions of the job and is free of communicable disease.
• Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B immunity (positive titer or documented vaccine series), and Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within the past 10 years.
• Influenza: Vaccine or medical/religious exemption required. Pre-start deadline is 9/15/2026, and working-candidate deadline is 12/4/2026.
• Respiratory clearance: RespSafety clearance required prior to start, with a copy brought to orientation. On-site N-95 fit test is mandatory on the first day.
• Competency exam: First attempt within 72 hours of signing, completed within 12 months of start. Three attempts maximum, with no fourth attempts approved.
• Central Registry Consent Form (time sensitive): Must be completed by the candidate and sent to the facility to clear.
• Name changes: A traveler whose current legal name is not on file may start if proof of name change is on file, proof of initiating the change with the licensing board and certification center is provided, and all names are included in the background check.

Certifications Not Required for RRTs

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Work History and References

• Employment application or resume covering 7 years of work history, with all gaps accounted for.
• Two references from the last 2 years. At least one must be managerial and relate to the accepted position. The second may be from HR verifying employment dates or from a nursing or allied charge/coordinator or MD.
• Work history verification (New Jersey): Required for all candidates, covering at least 1 year before the start date, with gaps of 30 days or less allowed.

• Facility preference: The facility strongly prefers an 11/9 orientation start.
• Required time off (RTO): Must be sent with the submission and approved before the offer.
