Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Location: Seattle, Washington Start Date: ASAP Contract Length: 8 weeks. No extensions are offered beyond the original 8-week contract.

Schedule

• Nights, 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30 (48 hours per week)
• Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Pre-approved time off is considered case by case
• Schedule is posted every 6 weeks and adjusted to meet unit needs

Unit Details

• High Risk/High Volume L&D, all types
• 4 ORs
• 31 rooms and 31 beds
• Average daily census of 15; 500-600 deliveries per month

Role Details

• Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery and continues newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Circulates and provides newborn care, including eye care, vitamin K injections, thigh care, and newborn assessments
• Medications include heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Float required: Postpartum/antepartum nurses may float to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
• Experience is valued; staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Permanent employees of other facilities in the system are eligible for a travel contract if separated for at least 3 months
• An active compact license is honored at this facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Washington
• Labor and Delivery experience of at least 1 year, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with High Risk patients
• Experience as an OB circulator
• Experience functioning as a baby nurse during delivery and providing newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
• Experience with Epic
