Overview

Schedule

• Day shift: 0700-1930
• Night shift: 1900-0730
• The manager is also open to nights-only candidates.

• Unit: Post-op Surgical Care Unit, providing post-op care for General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, GYN (not mom/baby), and Trauma
• Float scope: May float to other similar units as needed, including PCU

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Minnesota
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg experience, with Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS is not required for Med Surg/Tele.

Background and Screening

• Criminal background check within 1 year of start, including 7-year search, SSN trace, county, sex offender, nationwide, and international searches if the candidate has lived or worked outside the US (cannot start with international search pending)
• Third-party education verification required (diploma accepted in lieu, with proof of verification attempts)
• GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG excluded provider checks required
• MN DHS NetStudy fingerprinting required. Candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending. An MN RN license issued 1/1/2018 or later exempts the candidate from DHS clearance, though fingerprint status is still marked required.
• Fingerprints must be completed within 2 weeks of DHS registration, and the DHS consent form within 2 weeks of registration. If no livescan location is within driving distance, the candidate must travel to one before the start date.

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Tdap required (religious declination not accepted)
• Fit test for N95 masks (Halyard Fluid shield or 3M 1860 teal). Onsite fit testing available.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per MN State PPD requirements, plus annual TB questionnaire
• Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines. Negative or equivocal titers require 2 boosters at least 28 days apart. Candidates may start with the second booster pending.
• Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination
• Drug test: 9-panel or instant test, within 1 year of start
• Flu vaccine or declination for the 2026-27 season (deadline 11/15). Candidates who decline must wear a mask at all times.

Onboarding

• Education modules completed during orientation (average 16 hours)
• Confidentiality agreement signed before start
• Badge photo required (grey background, no selfies, JPG)
• COVID-19 religious or medical exemption forms available; approvals can take up to 3 weeks
• Badges returned to manager on last day of assignment

Restrictions

• Does not accept local candidates (candidates living within 25 miles of the facility are not accepted)
• Finalized RTO must be included with submission
• No RTO during the first week of the start date
• No more than 10 days of RTO per assignment
