Job Summary:
The Operating Room First Assistant (ORFA) professional working in the cardiac surgical environment provides intraoperative technical support under the supervision of the attending physician. The role involves assisting with exposure, hemostasis, and closure during cardiac surgeries, as well as performing preoperative and postoperative duties to enhance patient care throughout the perioperative period. This position primarily involves second assisting in cardiac cases and requires regional call support across the healthcare system.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid driver's license or state identification, completion of UHS submission packet, and UHS prior employment form.
• Preferred Qualifications: Not specified.
• Additional Information: The role requires application of the nursing process in all facets of the nurse first assistant role, knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, establishment and maintenance of a safe peri-operative environment, proficiency in taking second call, advanced life support equipment knowledge, and a high degree of hand/eye coordination and mental focus. This position covers a period from 11/02/2026 to 01/31/2027, with a minimum of 0 years experience needed.
