Job Summary
Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor nurse position in Overland Park, Kansas. This role involves providing specialized care within a busy, fast-paced ortho/spine unit at a Level 2 trauma center. The nurse will deliver patient-centered care to individuals with orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, and traumas, utilizing advanced technology and communication tools to optimize patient outcomes.

Job Details

• Position Description: 48 Hours Guaranteed, Night Shift. The unit is an Orthopedics & Spine Specialty ward with 36 beds, staffed by a team of 75, including RNs, PCTs, and unit clerks.
• Required Qualifications: Kansas Nursing License, BLS certification, 1+ year of acute care hospital experience on Med/Surg or Telemetry units, and experience working in an acute care hospital setting.
• Preferred Qualifications: NIH certification.
• Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Additional Information: The unit features state-of-the-art equipment such as traction, external fixators, halos, walkers, gait belts, bed alarms, continuous pulse oximetry, and remote telemetry monitoring. Staff utilize mobile communication tools for improved team coordination. The unit recently expanded from 26 beds to 36 beds due to increased patient volume, providing a dynamic and stimulating work environment. Staff rotate through every 3rd weekend, with some rotation every other weekend if on Leave of Absence.
