Description

Job Summary:
The profession is Registered Nurse (RN) with specialization in Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular at a healthcare facility. This position involves providing advanced critical care support to patients requiring ECMO therapy, with responsibilities including circuit management, patient monitoring, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The assignment is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026, and conclude on January 2, 2027.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Days, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited education program, active RN license, 1 year of ECMO Specialist experience, trained in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Phase One Cardiac Surgery Recovery, and Targeted Temperature Management. Demonstrates working knowledge of ECMO circuit components, pump adjustments, anticoagulation therapy, patient monitoring systems, and related policies.

  • Additional Information: Assist physicians, RNs, and other clinical staff with initiation, maintenance, and discontinuation of ECMO therapy and related mechanical support devices such as Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and ventricular assist devices (VADs). Manage up to three circuits simultaneously, ensuring safety and circuit integrity through detailed assessments and documentation. Respond promptly to emergent circuit issues, monitor blood gas and laboratory values, and adjust support parameters as needed. Participate in quality improvement, research activities, and mandatory ECMO competency trainings. Engage in monthly multidisciplinary conferences or review journal articles with continuing education units (CEUs).
