Job Summary
Surgical Technologist, Operating Room Open Heart. The position supports open-heart surgical procedures in a Level I trauma environment, caring for adult patients and utilizing specialized cardiovascular operating room skills. The role includes scheduled daytime shifts, call responsibilities, weekend rotation, and holiday coverage as needed.
Job Details
- Assignment: 11/23/202602/22/2027
- Schedule: Day shifts consisting of 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week. Call is required 12 days per week with a 30-minute response time. Weekend coverage is required every third or fourth weekend, and holiday coverage is required as needed, including two of three major holidays.
- Required Qualifications:
- National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 2 years of cardiovascular operating room experience
- Open-heart surgical experience
- Level I trauma experience
- Electronic medical record experience using EPIC
- Ability to care for adult patients, including patients requiring isolation precautions
- Additional Information: Clinical responsibilities may include assisting with coronary artery bypass graft procedures, aortic aneurysm repair, mitral valve replacement, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, endovascular aortic repair, ventricular assist device procedures, atrial septal defect repair, angioplasty and stenting, and other open-heart surgical procedures. The role may involve care for COVID-19 patients and requires adherence to aseptic technique, radiation safety, sharps safety, specimen handling, and universal timeout procedures.
