Job Summary
The Operating Room First Assistant (ORFA) is a specialized nursing professional providing surgical assistance in the operating room setting. This role involves supporting the surgical team during procedures to ensure patient safety, effective hemostasis, and optimal outcomes under surgeon supervision. The position is located in a healthcare facility, with a schedule primarily during night shifts.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights, 10 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin, graduate of an accredited nursing program, completion of an accredited RN First Assistant (RNFA) program or other recognized first-assisting education program, BLS certification within 6 months of hire, and at least 1 year of related operating room/surgical experience preferred. Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail are required.

• Additional Information: Assists the surgical team with preparing sterile supplies, positioning patients, providing visualization and hemostasis, assisting with closure, applying wound dressings, and managing drainage systems. Safely utilizes surgical equipment such as pneumatic tourniquets, electrocautery, and endoscopy equipment. Performs other duties as requested.
