Job Summary
Step Down Unit Nurse Nights Contract position available starting 10/26/2026 in an acute care setting. This role involves providing care to adult patients in a specialized step down unit, with a focus on patient safety, effective communication, and teamwork. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience, with preferred certifications and the ability to work flexible hours.

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending at 7:00 a.m.
• Hours: Minimum of 48 hours per week
• Experience Requirements: Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience required, with a focus on step down or similar units. First-time travelers are accepted.
• Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) required; ACLS (American Heart Association) required; Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification preferred but not required.
• Patient Population: Adult patients in step down environments, including trauma, with ratios of 1:4-1:5.
• Orientation: Two days of unit-specific orientation provided.
• Clinical Skills: Occasional titration of insulin and Cardizem drips; familiarity with common medications including chemotherapy, heparin, Protonix.
• Equipment: High-flow respiratory equipment, ventilators, BiPAP, and other advanced respiratory support devices may be encountered.
• EMR: Epic electronic medical record system.
• Support Staff: Nursing assistants, charge nurse, PT/OT, case managers, social workers, educators, dietitians.
• Team Culture: Emphasizes patient care, teamwork, and a respectful environment for diverse patient populations.
• Start Date: 10/26/2026
• End Date: 01/25/2027
• Travel and Float: Float to other medical/surgical and PCU units; float assignments maintain same level of care.
