Job Summary

Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Sioux City: This role supports interdisciplinary patient care through the professional management of patients recovering from anesthesia. The position includes care within a Level 3 Trauma Center, a 1:2 patient ratio, and potential float support within the same discipline across local campuses.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. On-call coverage is required every third weekend for either 12 or 24 hours, with potential coverage on 24 nights per week.
• Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience; active Iowa or compact nursing license; active Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications; valid drivers license.
• Preferred Qualifications: American Heart Association (AHA) certification is preferred. Certifications from the American Red Cross or the U.S. military may also be accepted.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Patient ratio is 1:2.
  • PACU staff may float to the intensive care unit (ICU) as a resource; travelers will not be assigned ICU patients.
  • PACU staff are cross-trained in the intensive care unit (ICU).
  • Travelers may be required to work two of three designated winter holidays.
  • First-time travelers are welcome.
  • Orientation is scheduled for 12/07/2026 or 12/21/2026.
