Description
Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor position focused on caring for outpatients assigned to observation status. The role assesses patient needs, provides skilled nursing care, administers medications and treatments, processes provider orders, and evaluates treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the care team. The position requires night-shift availability and includes every-other-weekend scheduling.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Observation experience
- Active Michigan nursing license
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Epic electronic medical record experience
- Schedule: Night shift with 12-hour shifts and a minimum of 36 hours per week; every other weekend.
- Additional Information:
- Assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services according to authorized plans of care and accepted nursing standards.
- Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, transfers, call-light response, and alarm response.
- Evaluate treatment effectiveness and collaborate with the care team to update or revise treatment plans.
- Process provider orders and complete ordered care accurately, completely, and promptly.
- Follow up on medication changes and order clarifications.
- No on-call responsibilities.
