Job Summary

Labor and Delivery Department. This position supports care for laboring patients with high-risk conditions, including preeclampsia and diabetes, beginning at 34 weeks gestation. Responsibilities include obstetric triage, postpartum care, cesarean sections, external cephalic versions, and support for a Level 2 special care nursery.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications; valid Kansas or compact Registered Nurse (RN) license; at least 2 years of experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge experience; experience with electronic health record charting systems.
• Schedule: Day shifts are 12 hours, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Additional Information: Provides care in a high-risk labor and delivery setting, including obstetric triage, postpartum care, and Level 2 special care nursery support. Clinical responsibilities include assisting with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, managing preeclampsia, eclampsia, diabetes, preterm labor, premature rupture of membranes, postpartum hemorrhage, malpresentations, and multiple gestations; administering magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, Pitocin, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, and antiseizure medications; performing fetal and maternal assessments, newborn assessments, non-stress tests, fundus and lochia assessments, wound care, breastfeeding support, discharge teaching, and electronic fetal heart monitoring.
