Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical Floor. This position provides nursing care for patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, seizures, surgical and postoperative spine conditions, deep brain stimulators, and other neurological disorders. The role requires strong neurological nursing experience, recent EPIC experience, and proficiency with gastrostomy tubes.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Registered nurse license required for submission; willing-to-wait licensing accepted; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification in hand at submission; minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with a minimum of 48 hours per week. Weekend coverage and holiday rotation are required.
- Additional Information: Provides care in an acute medical-surgical neurological setting with patient ratios generally ranging from 1:56 to 1:710. Recent EPIC experience and strong overall neurological nursing experience are required, including proficiency with gastrostomy tubes. Patient populations may include neurosurgical and neurological conditions, stroke, seizures, surgical and postoperative spine cases, and other neurological disorders. Registered nurses verify monitor technician strip readings and document verification in EPIC; respiratory therapy and physician support are available for floor ventilators. Unit orientation consists of one shift.
